Monitor JVM with RHQ 4.6.0 and JBoss AS 7.1

      Hi,

I like to monitor the current JVM status of our JBoss instances. Is there a way to get the same information as I can get for the RHQ Agent (e.g. JVM -> Memory Subsystem -> Memory Pools)?

There is no JVM entry after using autodiscovery for the JBoss AS server. There are no templates for alarm definitions and only one template for an availability metric for the JVM. Is JVM monitoring not supported for JBoss AS instances? I think there was something for older version of JBoss AS and RHQ

      Thanks alot,

      Thorben

Unfortunately this is a limitation of AS7 - they do not expose all the VM stats into their DMR management tree, which the as7 plugin of RHQ is accessing.

At the moment there is no good solution. In theory you could just import the as7 vm as jmx server too (needs some work) and show the enties there - those would most

probably live outside the normal resource tree.

Thank you for the quick answer!

Will these information be exposed in the future? Is it planed for one of the next releases?

I would like to try to import as7 as a JMX server. Is there any documentation how to do it? I am really new to RHQ
