        Hi Heiko,

I will go away and confirm that I can telnet between the servers and that the ports are open and I will check reverse DNS. I will also reinstall the agent and will record every step I take so that I can paste it here for you if it doesn't work.

I will let you know what happens.

        Thanks

I can telnet between servers and Netstat below now shows an established connection to the agent now it is listening...

          PS C:\****> netstat -anop tcp | select-string "16163"

            TCP    172.30.45.71:16163     0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       2256

            TCP    172.30.45.71:16163     172.30.45.79:58790     ESTABLISHED     2256

DNS should not be a problem because I am using internal IP addresses and the servers are on the same domain.

The image above shows the agent running. The server communicates with the agent and this server is now not listed with a red exclamation mark on the dashboard. If I go into inventory. This server now shows up with a green tick. The rhqagent works at this point. It is at some point when I have disconnected the remote desktop session that all the agents stop running.

As you can see below all the other agents have stopped running.

How can I keep them running, without them stopping? I don't want to have to reinstall the agents every few minutes just to keep them running properly.

            Hey,

I think this may be the issue:

It is at some point when I have disconnected the remote desktop session that all the agents stop running.

At least on Unix disconnecting the terminal will block standard in and output and thus basically block some threads.

After configuring the agent, you probably need to stop it and start it via wrapper. As I am no Windows user, I have never tried this.

Have a look at this wiki page: https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/RHQ+Agent+Installation#RHQAgentInstallation-SettinguptheAgentas%26nbsp%3BWindowsService
