1. Re: Difference between HornetQ Persistance and Durable Subscription (in case of Topic)
ataylor Apr 16, 2013 9:20 AM (in response to ajinkya.bambal)hornetq persistance = messages are persisted = messages survive server crash
durable subscription = subscription survives consumer not being connected = it will receive all messages delivered to a topic.

Im not really sure what you actually mean by that, durable subs are for topics, queues hold all messages anyway.

5. Re: Difference between HornetQ Persistance and Durable Subscription (in case of Topic)
ajinkya.bambal Apr 16, 2013 10:52 AM (in response to ataylor)that means if a consumer is listening a perticular queue and if for some reason consumer is down , when it is up, again consumer will definitely receive the message ...(probably due to persistance)...
every time I got confuse between topic & queue could u elaborate plz.......(waht exactly subscription to the topic means?)
Actually for my application I need both topic & queue for different purposes...but in both the cases I need to anyhow receive the message from hornetQ server ....
So in case of topic, DurableSubscriber is good option ,due to which i will definitely receive message at consumer end (even if consume/subscriber fails & later restarts)
but how can i sachieve same thing in case of queue? (vry sry if im asking silly doubts...)

Yes but not because pf persistance, as i said earlier persistant messages mean they survive server failure.

I would suggest reading a good JMS tutorial, the Sun one is pretty good.
