2. Re: datasource files in jboss 7.1.1
sviluppatorefico Apr 29, 2013 6:47 AM (in response to nickarls)I've just seen that sample. It is for mysql and it need the external drive for mysql. In my sample I should use the hsql internal drive of jboss 7. Anyway I doubt it works using the 'deployments' directory because it is the one difference

nickarls Apr 29, 2013 6:59 AM (in response to sviluppatorefico)A driver is a driver is a driver. It should be applicable. Just change the driver to a module reference if you prefer. And remember the *-ds.xml naming convention.

4. Re: datasource files in jboss 7.1.1
sviluppatorefico Apr 29, 2013 7:44 AM (in response to nickarls)Sorry, I exposed badly.... the file -ds.xml is deployed copying the -ds.xml file in the 'deployments' directory of jboss, so I suppose the driver configuration is ok because if I write a bad driver in the file, I see the error on the log. Instead when I deploy the correct file (I suppose is correct because I don't see errors on the log) I see this in the log:
13:40:12,317 INFO [org.jboss.as.server.deployment] (MSC service thread 1-3) JBAS015876: Starting deployment of "zzzzz-ds.xml"
13:40:12,334 INFO [org.jboss.as.server] (DeploymentScanner-threads - 2) JBAS018559: Deployed "zzzzz-ds.xml"
So the deploy is ok.
The problem is that it is not deployed as a datasource but as a simple resource file. By the web console I see it in the 'Manage Deployments' page instead of the 'Datasources' page.
If I create the datasource through the web console using the same parameters of the file that's ok

nickarls Apr 29, 2013 8:17 AM (in response to sviluppatorefico)Ah, I think that's the expected behavior.

sviluppatorefico Apr 29, 2013 9:29 AM (in response to nickarls)It seems a bug....a datasource as resource is useless

jesper.pedersen Apr 29, 2013 9:31 AM (in response to sviluppatorefico)That should give you a hint...

It's not. Read the note at the end of this chapter https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/AS72/DataSource+configuration which explains it.
