How to restrict and redirect the web application to use hostname instead of IP address

Hi,

Currently we are having 3 different java based web applications running in a linux server and users are currently using IP address in the web URL and we would like to restrict/redirect the user to use HOSTNAME based URL. Here the query is where to configure these in jboss server and we are using jboss-4.0.3 application server. If restriction is not possible if the user tries to type the IP based URL it should automatically resolve and redirect to HOSTNAME in the web URL. And we are having DNS settings configured for the IP address.

Please help us in setting up this.

Hm so you want to redirect the requests coming with an IP in the hostname: IP to the corresponding hostname: name, correct?

Yer sir. If the user tries to access the web application URL with IP address on providing the IP address in web browser and clicking on should be redirected to HOSTNAME based URL.

http://123.23.34.45:9001/WebAppls

should be redirected to

http://hostname.defined.DNS:9001/WebAppls
