1. Re: Error previewing: Validate JDBC username and password in the default Teiid server
rareddy Jan 30, 2013 9:39 AM (in response to dsusin)Daniel,
Looks like you have restarted the server in-between after you made the connection from the Designer. When Server gets restarted, the Designer gets connected again, however it looses the affinity with the previous session, so as long as the Designer is using the same connection object to issue the queries you will see that exception. I would have to check if there is way detect is the socket connection is broken on the existing connection objects, before they get used.
The pop-up is asking for JDBC connection details, not admin/management user. They are two separate users. A management user is allowed to deploy/undeploy VDBs etc. JDBC user is for querying the database (also used by preview). You can configure the JDBC user on the server side in "teiid-security" domain, in the <jboss-as>/standalone/configuration/teiid-security-users.properties file. Once you have this repeated pop-up will go away.
As per the orphaned preview VDBs, this is also symptom of restarts of server, if u stop and start the designer it will clean up properly. I have another idea how to fix this issue, I will log an issue and engage the Designer contributors for solution.
Thank you.
Ramesh..

2. Re: Error previewing: Validate JDBC username and password in the default Teiid server
dsusin Jan 30, 2013 10:04 AM (in response to rareddy)Hi,
I'm managing the server instance from Eclipse/Designer, I load Designer, I go to servers tab and I start my previously configured instance from there, there are no restarts after that. I also tried to start the server before from command line and configure the Designer instance checking the "Server is externally managed. Assume server is started" option, but the result is the same error... For the users part, I have not touched the default user (user/user) as I'm in a private test environment, is there some place where the jdbc credentials used in previews have to be configured? I have not found it...
Thanks for the quick answer.

3. Re: Error previewing: Validate JDBC username and password in the default Teiid server
rareddy Jan 30, 2013 11:16 AM (in response to dsusin)No there is no place else, nor any special consideration given to preview jdbc users. The same users are used.
As workaround you can use external managed server for now, I am not sure if there is any issues with starting server from Designer.

neetacomp May 22, 2013 12:07 AM (in response to rareddy)Hi Ramesh,
I restarted my Teiid server and I also started getting this error "
Error previewing: Validate JDBC username and password in the default Teiid server"
As per your suggestion , I tried following 3 solutions. But no luck. Can you please help to resolve this issue
1) Stopped the server and Teiid designer. Restarted designer and server from Eclipse
2) Restarted server from the command prompt
3) Updated 'teiid-security-users.properties' with following entry and restarted the instanace
user=user
password=user
Please let me know if I have missed any thing else
Thanks,
Neeta

5. Re: Error previewing: Validate JDBC username and password in the default Teiid server
rareddy May 22, 2013 8:43 AM (in response to neetacomp)You need to set the user name and password in the Designer, Teiid Connection dialog and set the password to save.

neetacomp May 27, 2013 1:00 AM (in response to rareddy)Thanks Ramesh for the reply.
Are you refering the below Connection Dialog? (pls refer attachment)
On this dialog, I can test both the Teiid server and JDBC connection successfully. Still I get the same error.
Can you please let me know if anything else is required?
Thanks,
Neeta

rareddy May 27, 2013 8:24 PM (in response to neetacomp)That is it, those are the username/passwd that Designer uses for logging and issuing queries.

neetacomp May 28, 2013 1:47 AM (in response to rareddy)Ramesh,
As I mentioned before, I verified username and password on the Connection dialog. All Test connections are also successful.
Still I get the same error.
Thanks,
Neeta

I recommend you upgrade to Teiid Designer 8.1 release to solve this connection issue.
