How to use rich:componentControl to filter a table?

I try to reuse this sample: http://showcase.richfaces.org/richfaces/component-sample.jsf?demo=componentControl in my application.

Here's what I have:

But when I click on a link (h:outputLink) nothing in the main table is filtered. I'm not sure what is the meaning of these two parameters used in the tutorial in the <rich:componentControl> tag.

OK, what I want to achieve is - when a user clicks on the name of a tournament, the table with all tournaments and their matches should be filtered so that only entries for the selected tournament are visible.

So basically the question is: how can I set the "idFilter" field in my filtering bean and then invoke the filtering operation on the table when a user clicks on a link?

The param tags nested in the componentControl tag are the parameters passed to the javascript function (defined in the operation attribute).  In the case of the showcase example, the filter operation refers to the filter javascript function of the datatable:

The two nested params in this case are the first two parameter of the above function.  The third parameter is not set.

To get your sample to work, I would focus on getting filtering working (you will probably need a filterValue attribute in your column).  Once you have filtering working, you can look at controlling your filtering using the componentControl.

As you've suggested I've added a filterValue attribute and now the filtering works correctly (assuming I set some value in the backing bean). However, the <rich:componentControl> seems not to perform its action...

There is a working sample in the showcase, so I'd start with comparing your implementation to that sample and seeing where they differ.  If you need help understanding why certain such differences break your implementation, post back here.

It turned out that the problem was my "copy-paste" method of writing code and not-too-good understaning of JSF. I enclosed all my XHTML code in <h:body> tag, but is should be <h:form> so that <h:outputLink> elements work correctly. In my case they simple werent "clickable" at all...
