Load fails for DATE types, JBoss 3 and Postgres

I'm getting the following error. "java.io.StreamCorruptedException" I've searched the message boards and not found an answer. Help!

JBoss is trying to deserialise the date instead of letting the driver recover it.
Please check your type mappings for this column and make sure that it is one of the date types, and that there are proper jdbc->sql type mappings for your version of postgres in standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml.
