Java Validator does not get triggered when using service Invoker

I'm trying to test the correct functioning of my Java Validators. In order to do that I've created a Switchyard Runner Test that gets injected a  switchyard test service Invoker.

When calling the service making use of this Invoker my validator does not get triggered. I would like to know if this is the normal behaviour because the invoker calls the service directly or whether the validation phase should happen regardless of how the service is called.

The test invoker is essentially a "dumb" consumer in the sense that it has no concept of contract unless you explicitly tell it what to do.  The inputType() method should be what you need to set the input type to be validated.  Here's an example:
