How to get current portlet information programatically

Hi all

how can i get the portlet information programatically, upon edit or viewing of the portlet.. my requirement is  to get the portlet id to identify the portlet and dynamically set values on viewing and editing .. in the doView and doEdit method of the generic portlet the portlet request and response are available ..but is there a way to get portlet info from these objects ..?

With PortletRequest and PortletResponse object, you can not get portlet ID.

Maybe method #getWindowID() of PortletRequest object can help you.
