1. Re: How do I resolve... JBOSS_HOME may be pointing to a different location - unpredictable results may occur

welcome to the forum.
You might look for the JBOSS_HOME variable in the Environment dialog (somewhere in the system dialog) and delete it here.
Before you execute standalone.bat, does set shows that JBOSS_HOME is set?

2. Re: How do I resolve... JBOSS_HOME may be pointing to a different location - unpredictable results may occur
gmjord Jul 19, 2013 3:33 PM (in response to wdfink)I checked my environment variables and there was a difference between what the control panel told me and what the "set" command at the prompt told me which I don't know why. I changed JBOSS_HOME to C:\jboss-as-7.1.1.Final (without \bin) with the "set" command and I no longer get the JBOSS_HOME may be pointing to a different location - unpredictable results may occur.
Now, I get... calling "C:\jboss-as-7.1.1.Final\bin\standalone.conf.bat" for a couple of seconds then the command prompt comes back.
Is this normal? Is JBoss running at this point?
I typed http:/localhost:8080/ into my browser and get an error that could not connect to the server.
What else do I need to do?
Thank you,
Mitch

2) Do set JAVA_HOME to point to the location where you have installed Java.
What's the output of
echo %JAVA_HOME%

wdfink Jul 20, 2013 5:18 AM (in response to gmjord)If you look to the standalone.bat file there is a "@echo off" if you change that to "@echo on" you see the output of the script and this might give you an idea whats going wrong.
If you are unsure you might attach it here.

5. Re: How do I resolve... JBOSS_HOME may be pointing to a different location - unpredictable results may occur
gmjord Jul 20, 2013 12:48 PM (in response to jaikiran)When I type echo %JAVA_HOME% it returns C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_25 which is where I did have Java before I moved it. Again the issue was with changing JAVA_HOME in the control panel. So even though I changed JAVA_HOME in the control panel I still see the old location for JAVA_HOME with "echo" or "set".
So, I changed JAVA_HOME with the "set" command and now my server starts!! And... I see that my browser tells me that my JBoss is running when I put in localhost:8080.
Thank you Jaikiran and thank you Wolf!!
