    Installing Switchyard 1.0.FINAL on AS7?

    dustin.barlow

I would like to install Switchyard 1.0.FINAL on AS7 but all the instructions and files I've found for version 1.0.FINAL are for installing it onto the EAP 6.1 version.

I found this posting https://community.jboss.org/wiki/SwitchYardOnAS7, but the instructions don't seem to line up with what I see included in the switchyard-distribution.zip file for 1.0.FINAL I found in the Continuous Integrations builds.  Since that post was written in 2011, it is fair to presume that those installation instructions are no longer valid?

In the download area for Switchyard, the Current release has a zip file called switchyard-as7-0.8.0.Final.zip.  Is there not a similar file somewhere for the 1.0.FINAL release?  If not, is there a document somewhere that can explain the steps to produce one?

      Thanks!

      Dustin

Packaging and installation have changed for 1.0.0.Final:

          https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/SWITCHYARD/Installation+Guide

EAP 6.1 is now required and EAP 6.1 bits are available for download separately from the AS site.  JBoss AS 7.1.1 was too dated to support any longer.

We cannot provide a bundled EAP 6.1 + SY for download from the SY project, but the installation options are pretty straightforward - install via Ant or extract our overlay zip on top of EAP 6.1.

            Thanks for the quick response.

So going forward, is it fair to say that Switchyard will not be provided or target a community version of JBoss AS anymore and as such would require an EAP subscription/license for production deployment on JBoss AS?

AFAIK, EAP 6.1 Alpha has no restrictions on production use.  Our installer works with Alpha and GA EAP 6.1.  We also have two separate overlay zips, one for each distro.  Wildly will replace JBoss AS as the community target in future releases.  A subscription is definitely not required to use community bits, but I will say I recommend it for production deployments.  :-)
