EAP 6 subscription expires after one year ?

    markboletti

      Hi all,

hope this is the right place to ask such a question; I've just downloaded and started using the EAP 6.1 for my development environment. Now in my downloads area it's mentioned that "You will be notified again in 315 days after your subscription ends". A bit surprised since a deadline it was not stated in the Subscription program. However what does it happen at the end of the yearly subscription ? will the EAP still be usable ?

      Thanks

      Mark

          Hello Mark,

I'm not sure what you see.

If you download the EAP6.1.0.Final bits you are free to use it for development. The bits are always the same, the licence part is only the contract part.

You need to buy a subscription (and pay for it) if you use the bits in production. If you use it for development it will be a 0$ subscription, maybe the notification is to inform Red Hat that you still use this.

does that make sense to you?

            Hi Wolf,

thanks for your kind reply. What I was meaning is that if the EAP 6.1 is a "trial", which will lock up after the yearly subscription ends ? For example if you download the IBM WAS trial after 30 days or so it will lock up. As it's mentioned on my profile that "in xxx days your EAP subscription ends", I was just wondering if this is the case too.

            Best regards

            Mark

There is no time-bomb that will make it stop working.  All of these limitations refer to the terms of use.
