We started with 7.1.0 and want to move to JBoss AS (subscription). I don't know where to start. What would be equivalent of JBoss 7.1.0 in the subscription model?
EAP 6 I believe, EAP 6.1 is AS 7.2.0.

sfcoy Aug 4, 2013 11:35 PM (in response to skr989)In my opinion you should move directly to EAP 6.1, as available from http://www.jboss.org/jbossas/downloads.
You can develop on it for free, subject to the terms you agree to when you download it.
That way, you will be developing on your planned production platform.

skr989 Aug 5, 2013 3:05 PM (in response to sfcoy)Catching up on JBoss.
So after JBoss 7.1.1 Final, there is no JBoss released as a Standalone product but is bundled with JBoss EAP ? I am trying to read release notes of both JBoss 7.1.1 and EAP 6.x and see whats close without much of coding effort.

wdfink Aug 5, 2013 3:24 PM (in response to skr989)You might use EAP6.1.0.Alpha which is the mostly the same as 7.2.0.Final. Also it is possible to use the Alpha bits in production without a subscription.
I recommend to use that if you want to start.
Also if you plan to switch to EAP6 and buy a subscription you can use the EAP6.1.0.Final for development and buy a subscription for production use.
There is no big difference between 7.1.1 and 7.2/EAP6.1 and I recommend to use that as you will have the latest bugfixes. If you start later with production you might use EAP6.1.1 to have the latest version.

I read a bit between the lines here that you seem to think JBoss EAP is some Enterprise Middleware suite (like the 1 to 2GB downloads that WebLogic and WebSphere offer)? This is not the case.
EAP is just the exact same server as AS, just a few versions further (fixing literally hundreds of bugs). If you download both AS 7.1.1 and EAP 6.0.0, unzip them and compare the directory layout etc you'll see the distributions are pretty much identical. If you diff the source you'll see that even at the source code level they are ~99.9% identical as well (the difference between the unreleased AS 7.1.2 and EAP 6.0.0 is even smaller).
Anyway as the others indicated, EAP 6.1 with the subscription is the one you most likely want. No need to bother with the older EAP 6.0.0 since it's somewhat closer to AS 7.1.0.

Or better, the downloads page http://wildfly.org/download/
