select different beans with one ejbSelect

Hi,

I'm getting a lot of pushback from the owner/chief architect here about migrating to cmp 2 from the current environment of placing ad hoc sql directly in the code. One of the big issues is the perceived inefficiency of cmp 2 around retrieving column data from multiple database tables with a single ejq-ql query. Is there any way to bring back beans or data elements from multiple tables with one ejbSelect query? If not, is this something that is being discussed or requested either here or in the j2ee spec arena?

No there is nothing now, or planed by the spec guys. I plan on expanding JBossQL to support generic selects. It would just return a collection of collections (or something like that).

When you say "generic selects", do you mean extending the ejb-ql syntax to support selecting multiple beans or adding support for using some type of regular ansi sql syntax?
