Debugging RHQ with Eclipse

Hi Developers,

    Is that possible to debug RHQ with eclipse ? ( By specifying breakpoint for method level and variable level

    I would to debug RHQ Agent Plugin in the eclipse. Could anybody help me to debug my plugin via Eclipse ?

    Operating System : Fedora

    Eclipse Version : Kepler

    RHQ Version : 4.7

Yes it's possible. You need remote debug. See: https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/Advanced+Build+Notes#AdvancedBuildNotes-DebuggingaRunningAgent

I found debugging much, much easier by using the ComponentTest.java class I created. This is one incarnation of it I wrote for testing the Oracle plugin. (I have a newer version with more features and fixes I might contribute at some point.)

You then don't have to do remote debugging, and in fact have a lot of flexibility in configuring and running your component. Of course, there are a few limitations.

    How to debug my custom plugin with componentTest.java ? I mean the steps to debug with eclipse.

    I am preferring eclipse because It helps to debug at method level and variable level ( breakpoints ). Your code could do that ? Otherwise suggest another solution too.

Well, in short you basically create unit tests like those already part of RHQ.

Then take a look at the tests for say, the rhq-database-plugin project.
