How to pull something off the dead letter queue

I am trying to write a mdb app to pull messages of the dead letter queue but can't get anything to build in maven.

Can anyone give me code that works or point to some examples. Ideally I would like to add the capability of pulling stuff off of the dead letter queue to the helloworld-mdb project in the jboss quickstarts.
