rich:extenedDataTable sorting resets the horizontal scrollbar

I am using a rich:extenedDataTable similar to the one in the showcase.

The table has 2 frozen columns, with sorting and filtering on every column. There are a lot of columns so there is a horizontal scrollbar. Whenever i scroll to the right and try to sort or filter one of the columns that are initially out of view the scrollbar gets reset to the left and the column i sorted or filtered is no longer visible.

Is there anyway to update the data in the table for filtering or sorting without restting the scrollbar back to the default location??

Here is my solution using jQuery:

For sorting
