richfaces 4 rich components won't render properly

Basically I'm using RichFaces 4 on JBoss EAP 6.1 and the rich components will appear in the page, but they look nothing like the components in the richfaces showcase site because for some reason the browser cannot find the CSS files that I'm assuming are included in the richfaces .jar files. It turns out that it was a Spring configuration issue. I posted an answer on the stackoverflow page.
