Doubts about @Model and bean-discovery-mode="annotated"

In https://issues.jboss.org/browse/CDI-406 I understand Mark Struberg's argument against making @Model a bean defining annotation. However, if you are using bean-discovery-mode="annotated" in beans.xml, then the classes annotated with @Model are not detected.

Does it make sense to recommend @Model for CDI 1.1 applications? Or would it be better to declare @Model as deprecated?

The argument was not against @Model specifically but I think that Mark would rather see all @Stereotypes treated consistently. To me this is an oversight in CDI 1.1 which should be addressed in the next maintenance release. Therefore I do not think @Model should be deprecated.

Jozef, do you have a coarse estimation when the next maintenance release will be available? In 6 months? In a year? In 2 years?
