Intermittent problem with CMP, Oracle

I'm running JBoss-3.0.7_jakarta-tomcat-4.1.24 with Oracle 8.1.6, JDK 1.4.1_03, and ojdbc14.jar, and am having intermittent problems with the setup.

After JBoss has been running for awhile, I start to get Oracle errors (ORA-4031: unable to allocate 24 bytes of shared memory) once in awhile - seems to be when there are more than one person hitting the web app. I also get very significant slow downs without errors from time to time - they come and go with seemingly no rhyme or reason (one activity will be very slow 15 times in a row, others are not slow, then the slow one speeds up again for no reason...)

Is anyone aware of difficulties with JBoss 3.x and Oracle 8.1.6 that might explain this?

Also, how can I turn on SQL tracing so that I can see what SQL is being executed by JBoss during CMP operations?
