I strongly suspect (will have to check with Randall though) that we always intended to publish only the "rar" (aka. JCA artifact). This is what you're seeing at the moment - a RAR file but with the wrong extension and Maven packaging type.

nl Jan 16, 2014 10:00 AM (in response to hchiorean)Our intention is to create a customized resource adapter because we require additional jars to be included (additional sequencers for example). That's why we're interested in modeshape-jca.jar.

hchiorean Jan 16, 2014 12:07 PM (in response to nl)1 of 1 people found this helpfulWe've opened [MODE-2146] The modeshape-jca module is incorrectly packaged - JBoss Issue Tracker which we'll fix for 4.0.
In the meantime, one option (workaround) you have it to configure your build system to extract the contents of the current jar (which is really the RAR), add additional jars to it (e.g. the sequencers) and then re-package it back together.
