Error trying to add user for Administration Console JBOSS 7.1

From my JBOSS_HOME/bin directory I am running add-user.bat as described in the documentation so I can use the Administration Console but all I get is an message saying

"files was unexpected at this time".  Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong and how to perform this task.  Without adding a user I am not able to access my own Administration Console

I encountered this issue when setting JAVA_HOME path with quotes. Removing quotes from the variable fixed the issue.

To track the cause of your issue, change the 1st line of the add-user.bat echo off into echo on and check the last line written to your output.
