How to register a TaskLifeCycleEventListener in 6.0?

How can I register a TaskLifeCycleEventListener?  I see how I can register Agenda, Process, or WorkingMemory event listeners, using the RegisterableItemsFactory, but not TaskLifeCycleEventListeners. I did find https://community.jboss.org/thread/236243 but this talks about how to use CDI which I am not using in my application.

possibility to register TaskLifeCycleEventListeners via RegisterableItemsFactory was added post 6.0 so it will be available in ext release.

So is there no workaround to this other than using CDI?  I have already removed CDI (Weld) from my jBoss server because it causes other problems with JBPM 6.0 that you said won't be fixed until the next release.

I am in the middle of converting a 5.4 application to 6.0 and the application relies heavily on 5.4 TaskEventListeners, so the lack of this feature more or less places my work on hold until the next 6.1 release.
