How does JBOSS choose default configuration?

If I never specify <configuration-name> for my EJB(s), how does JBOSS choose the "default" configuration? Am I supposed to explicitly mention every EJB in my jboss.xml deployment descriptor just for the purpose of indicating configuration-name parameter?

I updated my jboss.xml, to specifically provide a container-configuration for each bean that I am deploying, but I wonder if that's even necessary.
