Currently there is no support for COBOL. There has been only couple requests over the years on this subject. The best alternative is to look for third party library and integrate with DV6.

danielcastro Mar 25, 2014 10:05 AM (in response to rareddy)Sorry to hear that Ramesh,
I think my SOA design with JBoss toolset will be incomplete.
And also, this lack of functionality can be quient embarrasing for Jboss it JBoss wanna position itself as strong player with robustness. The greatest concurrent of JBoss, Oracle, have a product that support COBOL, although it is an expensive solution.
So, it is not a question about requests from users but a matter of how JBoss wanna position itself along the market.
Not support COBOL is a huge backfire cause the message it passes is that the solution JBoss sells is not propper for some data environment, it is a niche market absent of JBoss solutions.
Anyway,
Thanks a lot

3. Re: What is JBoss DV6 Virtual Data Sources compatibilities?
shawkins Mar 25, 2014 10:13 AM (in response to danielcastro)1 of 1 people found this helpfulThere are several options from IBM and other vendors that provide JDBC or other API access to mainframe sources (such as http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/z/os/zvse/solutions/vsamaccess.html http://www.connx.com/products/vsam.html etc.). Being an integration platform it's in our best interest to leverage connectivity rather than develop our own. The lack of an open source / free alternative in this space points to a need, but also to the cost/complexity/benefit problem with supporting such a project.
