The same call succeeds with Oracle 8.1.7.x driver. I am currently trying to use 9.2.x driver since 8.1.7.x driver has other issues that render it useless for a 9i database.
All the data type tests in with the 9.2..x JDBC driver is successful. So, i am thinking there is some kind of a mismatch between JBOSS and oracle environments.
