        Making your life simpler:

        <context-param>
        <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
        <param-value>
        /WEB-INF/spring/springsecurity-context.xml

        <!--

        /WEB-INF/spring/application-context.xml
        /WEB-INF/spring/gaej-beans.xml

        -->

        <!--

        /WEB-INF/spring/beans.xml

        -->

        </param-value>
        <!-- https://bitbucket.org/akochnev/tap5-gae-utils/wiki/Home -->
        <param-name>tapestry.DevelopmentMode-modules</param-name>

                <param-value>com.troymaxventures.tapestry.gaeutils.GaeDevServerModule</param-value>

        </context-param>

        <context-param>

          <param-name>sitemesh.configfile</param-name>

          <param-value>/WEB-INF/sitemesh.xml</param-value>

        </context-param>

        <context-param>

          <param-name>tapestry.production-mode</param-name>

            <param-value>false</param-value>

        </context-param>

        <context-param>

        <!-- The only significant configuration for Tapestry 5 Core, this informs Tapestry

        of where to look for pages, components and mixins. -->

        <param-name>tapestry.app-package</param-name>

        <param-value>tapp</param-value>

        <!--

          <param-name>tapestry.use-external-spring-context</param-name>

                <param-value>true</param-value>

        -->

        </context-param>

        Which ones of the above?

          The first one -- if you remove comments, it has 2 param-name, param-value in same context-param element.

            Do you mean change:

            <context-param>
            <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
            <param-value>
            /WEB-INF/spring/springsecurity-context.xml
            </param-value>
            <!-- https://bitbucket.org/akochnev/tap5-gae-utils/wiki/Home -->
            <param-name>tapestry.DevelopmentMode-modules</param-name>

                    <param-value>com.troymaxventures.tapestry.gaeutils.GaeDevServerModule</param-value>

            </context-param>

            <listener>

            to

            <context-param>
            <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
            <param-value>
            /WEB-INF/spring/springsecurity-context.xml
            </param-value>
            </context-param>
            <context-param>
            <!-- https://bitbucket.org/akochnev/tap5-gae-utils/wiki/Home -->
            <param-name>tapestry.DevelopmentMode-modules</param-name>
                   <param-value>com.troymaxventures.tapestry.gaeutils.GaeDevServerModule</param-value>

            </context-param>

            Why would it work in GAEJ then?

              It looks like GAEJ takes first param, where WildFly takes last one.

              e.g. perhaps change the order and see if it still works in GAEJ
