can't create a profile connection using teiid designer 8.5 alpha2

I installed teiid designer 8.5 alpha2 on eclipse kepler 4.3.2.

I'm unable to create a jdbc connection profile for teiid. The wizard lets me select a driver from the drop-down and provide connection details, but the next button remains grayed-out.

I see there is an issue TEIIDDES 2124 that may be related.

I'm new to the designer so it's entirely possible I'm overlooking something.

I also tried 8.5 beta 1 with similar result where I can select a driver from the drop-down and I can provide connection details but the next/finish buttons remain grayed-out.

Hi Ramesh, this behavior occurs (next/finish buttons remained grayed out) after specifying JAR containing driver and other driver details like VDB name and user/pwd. Thanks, Greg

Do you see any more versions in the drop down box, I see one for 7.7, 8.3, 8.4 but mine is 8.3.2 version. I should update to 8.5 Beta1 and check it out. May be Designer folks can look into this faster than I can

Meanwhile why are you creating connection profile Teiid? That is only applicable if you already have a VDB and trying to import metadata from existing VDB.

Issue was logged and is now fixed and will behave correctly in the next milestone.

Thanks, Ramesh. I would like to be able to import VDB metadata. It sounds like Barry indicates this will be addressed in the next Designer milestone.

we're currently using teiid-designer-8.5.0.Final-v20140616-1738-B2659.zip along with teiid-8.7.0.Final-jdbc.jar.

We trying to connect to a teiid VDB through the teiid designer Datasource Explore --> Database Connections we get the following.

we're currently using teiid-designer-8.5.0.Final-v20140616-1738-B2659.zip along with teiid-8.7.0.Final-jdbc.jar.

We trying to connect to a teiid VDB through the teiid designer Datasource Explore --> Database Connections we get a "Loading Core provider has encountered a problem" error. The reported error is an NPE.
