1. Re: arquillian video recorder missing on maven central
aslak May 31, 2014 4:48 AM (in response to kwintesencja)arquillian-desktop-video-recorder is currently not released. It will be a part of Alpha3.
smikloso Any reason this is held back? Or should we just cut a release?

2. Re: arquillian video recorder missing on maven central
smikloso Jun 2, 2014 3:04 AM (in response to aslak)Yes, there is a reason. Video recorder uses a project called xuggle (1) On the botton of that page, there is this licencing policy:
"Xuggler's pre-compiled Jar files are licensed under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL), but Lesser GNU General Public License v3 (LGPL) can be built. See the COPYING and COPYING.LESSER files in each library for details."
More to it (2)
For users who cannot use the GPL, Xuggler's source code is distributed under the LGPL Version 3. That means you can create a LGPL-only version of Xuggler if you follow these steps:
- Download the Xuggler source code
- Build your own, non GPL, version of the Jar files
- Distribute those jars.
It is questionable whether we can release recorder which is itself licenced under Apache 2.0 when this project depends on a API under GPL v3. Up to this moment I was not able to decide that so the release was postponed. I have tried to contact Richard Fontana but he is unresponsive and other issues come into play so it was not released yet.
So, right now, please just compile that project on your own.

aslak Jun 2, 2014 7:07 AM (in response to smikloso)You can add ALv2 code to GPLv3 code, but not the other way around.
