Where did you download the artifacts from? I am confused by "DV600GA-OpenShift" tag. You would need to download DV6 binaries from http://www.redhat.com/products/jbossenterprisemiddleware/data-virtualization/ which is on Redhat customer portal.

I was following a guide on the Teiid demo on Openshift, found here Provision Data Virtualization on OpenShift and Connect from Teiid Designer . I installed the DV6 cartridge on Openshift, and I also installed DV6, including EAP 6.1 on a local machine of mine. I downloaded DV6 from here JBoss Data Virtualization - Overview .
Ultimately I am trying to create a VDB that includes a Salesforce datasource and MySQL datasource.

Sorry, I did not see error message correctly before, yes you would need a JDK to run the JBoss Developer Studio, not a JRE.

Thank you, after installing the JDK all I had to do was change where JBoss Developer Studio was searching for the JVM. I was thrown off by the letters "JDK" in the package for OpenJDK, thinking I already had JDK installed.. but it only had the JRE binaries. For anyone else running into this problem here are the simple instructions for changing the JVM location for Jboss Developer Studio: https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_JBoss_Developer_Studio/7.0/html/Migration_Guide/Change_the_Pa…
