Manually unregister a remote slave host from the master?

We are using JBoss AS 7.1.1. We have remote slave hosts that are being auto scaled and they are not being unregistered from the master when the box shuts down. I tried adding a shutdown script to kill the jboss processes but that doesn't work.

Is there a way to check the status of a slave and unregister it?

If you need such behaviour you should start and stop the controller with initd scripts. If you do so the host-controller will unregistered/registered from the domain.
