How do I edit process variables of an instance in jbpm-console 6.0.1?

This is what I've done:

1. ant install.demo.noeclipse
2. ant start.demo.noeclipse
3. http://localhost:8080/jbpm-console/ (admin:admin)
4. Build & deploy (Project explorer / demo / jbpm-playground / HR)
5. Start (Process Definitions / Hiring a Developer)
6. Edit Variable (Process Instances / 1 Hiring a Developer / Name)
7. Save

The variable remains unchanged and the dialog box ”Edit Variable” remains open. Is this a bug or did I misunderstand how the variables should work?
