Polymer/Web Components vs Errai?

During the last Google I/O 2014 conference, Google put on notice everyone: "If you are building apps with Bootrstrap, Foundation, jQuery or any other yesterday's web frameworks, you are wasting your time. The web component revolution has started".

Assuming for a moment this is true, my questions to the Errai community are:

1. Has anyone attempted to mix Polymer components and Errai. How did it work?

2. One of the key features of web components is "html templating", which kind of makes Errai HTML templating obsolete .. Opinions?

3. Another feature of Polymer is the AJAX components. Will we need Errai JAX-RS and Remoteing going forward?

Hi Hristo,

I don't see web components making GWT or Errai solutions obsolete.

We could provide functionality to export Errai UI components as web components. Also, we have to make sure Errai UI templates can leverage existing web components. The advantages of GWT and Errai (using a type-safe declarative programming model) still remain the same.

I haven't started any work on this but it's on the roadmap. Happy to discuss more.

What would really help is if we can convert the Errai tutorial demo to using Polymer instead of Bootstrap. Charles is trying exactly that ...

Hello Hristo, I just pushed some updates to Errai-Polymer in GitHub here : http://goo.gl/X25CPq I have been able to implement basic polymer templating, injection, and data-binding.
