The best way to learn about these things is by following some of the tutorials and step-by-step procedures on the website, e.g. http://open.iona.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/CreatingandHostingaWebServicein+FUSE
To create a project using Maven, you start by creating an empty pom.xml file and then you use the Maven archetypes, as shown on http://open.iona.com/wiki/display/ProdInfo/Settingupthe+project. This just shows you a very basic Maven archetype, but more specific ones are available for every component you want to use.

I need to develop and deploy a java application which should be able to accept some input and give the output.Do we need to create it as webservice in this case? Can you give me some example related to this requirement?
