pausing or stopping quartz timer w/o redeploying

Is there a way to stop or pause a timer once deployed?

Currently, I redeploy the component with parts commented out...but I want to find a better way to do this...if at all possible.

You could potentially have the timer as a separate bundle that you would start and stop from the OSGI container.

Depending on what version you're using the command would look something like:

karaf> osgi/start  refers to the timer bundle.
