OSGi vs JBI in SMX - integration issue question

Hi

I have a question regarding JBI and OSGi in Fuse 4.x.

In Fuse 3.x the jbi was a standard and the whole communication layer was provided by NMR. As I understand in Fuse 4.x the OSGi is base of the system but it is still JBI compliant.

But what is a real communication layer on OSGi. I know that OSGi provides service registry, modules lifecycle etc but I'm not sure if it is JBI equivalent or just the next layer for that.

Is it possible to build the proper,  reliable integration structure based just on osgi modules?

Yes OSGi is the choice going forward. JBI is becoming legacy/dead.

Thanks, I know that jbi become to be dead... My question is what is a NMR equivalent in Fuse based on OSGi? Is it camel? And if yes how is communication via camel implemented in this context?

There is a camel-nmr component. The objects you exchange can be any kind (not only XML as with JBI).

And with OSGi you can exchange messages within the same OSGi container (eg in the same JVM).
