How to migrate from JBoss 5.1.0 GA to JBoss 6.1 EAP?

Hi,

I am new to JBoss. I have deployed an identity manager program on a JBoss 5.1.0 GA AS cluster. My requirement is to migrate/upgrade the Application Server from JBoss 5.1.0 GA to JBoss 6.1 EAP and then upgrade the identity manager program later. I am still learning things about JBoss. Initially when I installed JBoss 5.1.0 GA, I was able to find some good guides in this community to accomplish what I was looking for. But now, I am not able to locate any such guide on migrating/upgrading from JBoss 5.1.0 GA to JBoss 6.1 EAP.

Can you guys help me out here? Any references to a starter's guide on this would be immensely helpful. Thanks for reading this.

You can find the migration guide listed here for EAP https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/JBoss_Enterprise_Application_Platform/ (select the appropriate EAP version on the left side of the page).

I have a noob question though. I deployed JBoss 5.1.0 GA by following some steps which almost resemble the steps mentioned here: http://cmanios.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/install-jboss-5-1-0-ga-to-windows-7/  (Can't find the original JBoss guide I followed ATM) The guide that you referred talks more about migrating from JBoss 5 EAP to JBoss 6 EAP, not from JBoss 5.1.0 GA to JBoss 6 EAP. While deploying JBoss 5.1.0 GA, I had to download a ZIP, extract it, set correct environment variables and run the command from the bin directory. But for JBoss 6 EAP, I have got an installer to run. So, I am a bit confused - is the migration from 5 EAP to 6 EAP different from migrating from 5.1.0 GA to 6 EAP?

Please pardon my noob questions, I am new to JBoss AS. These different version names are confusing me at the moment. I appreciate your time and patience.
