Why aren't methods and properties in JdbcMetadataConnector protected instead of private?

Hello,

I'm trying to extend functionality of org.modeshape.connector.meta.jdbc.JdbcMetadataConnector, but a lot of the methods and properties in this class are private, in particular metadataRetrievers. Is there a reason methods and properties in this class are private, and not protected?

No, there's probably no reason why they were made private vs protected. Feel free to log an issue in our JIRA. This is also a really great way to start contributing, so we'd definitely welcome a pull-request with the desired changes!
