you're the second one with this "problem". I don't understand the purpose of an empty select; if the user sees a select he'll want to click it and when nothing shows he will think it's broken. Isn't it better just to hide or disable it and tell the user that the list is empty?

and i added the issue on bug list to be solved by next version by Richfaces team.
