15. Re: S-RAMP project name change?
brmeyer Nov 12, 2014 1:29 PM (in response to brmeyer)I like how X-RAMP sounds on its own. However, part of the driving force behind the rename is to prevent confusion between the project and the spec we implement. I'm not sure that X-RAMP vs. S-RAMP helps much in that regard.

jorgemoralespou_2 Nov 12, 2014 4:53 PM (in response to brmeyer)Isn't our project a reference implementation of the spec? And since we do not change that much a full rename also confuses.
I do like many other names, but in my opinion they where much more suited at the beginning, or if there is a driving force behind it as happened to jbossas to wildfly.
Maybe if we could provide with more info of what we want the project to be, we find a better name, but to keep its current goal of being a sramp implementation on steroids then xramp, or anything that relates to sramp like rampman,... Can be fine.
My 2 cents.

No, not currently. We've been having discussions with OASIS, but it's essentially dead-ended. The organization isn't setup to really handle reference implementations, even through simple endorsement.
> but in my opinion they where much more suited at the beginning
Definitely a fair point. But, with Overlord being splintered up a bit, paired with trying to make the S-RAMP project more of a standalone solution, the timing couldn't be much better. It's a "rebirth" of sorts

brmeyer Nov 24, 2014 10:10 AM (in response to brmeyer)All, thanks again for the help thus far! I've updated the original list with everything brought up, thus far. Unfortunately, our top 5 were completely rejected by legal. We'll definitely be thinking through the alternatives, but feel free to hit me with any other ideas. Thanks

sbunciak Dec 10, 2014 4:28 AM (in response to brmeyer)How about Repositio (reposit.io), Arca, or Chronicon ?

brmeyer Dec 16, 2014 12:17 PM (in response to brmeyer)Thank you for all the great ideas!
We finally have a winner! We honestly sent nearly the entire list to legal consul. Nearly every one was rejected, of course, but one of our top picks was cleared. I'm excited to announce that the project will be renamed to Artificer. Thanks to Marc Savy for that suggestion! I'll send some more information out ASAP, although I'm sure the actual transition process will take a while...
