Adding SASL mechanisms

How can I add allowed SASL mechanisms to a client connecting with remote naming?  Setting Options.SASL_MECHANISMS doesn't seem to work.

Can you explain what exactly you are trying?

P.S: People do respond on IRC, but currently it's holiday time and so you will not see much response for some weeks

Thanks for the response.  My ultimate goal is LDAP authentication, but I keep hitting "no SASL mechanisms".  The server supports PLAIN, CRAM-MD5, and probably NTLM, but the client will not negotiate these protocols.
