- It would be useful to also have your server configuration (e.g. standalone-full.xml).
- Your pom.xml references HornetQ 2.3.0.Final, but the logs indicate you're using HornetQ 2.2.5.Final. I think that's likely to be problematic.
- Why not move to a more recent release of the application server (e.g. JBoss EAP or Wildfly)?

You were correct the problem was the mismatch of HornetQ versions.Once I moved my HornetQ version down to match JBoss everything begin to work
The reason we are using such an old version is to reproduce the environment at a business partner, so unfortunately we are stuck with the older version for now
