Hints needed regard SwitchYard Tools installation

Hi all,

I’ve planned to install SwitchYard 2.0.0.CR1 on top of WildFly 8.1 Final (fresh installation)

And of course I’ll need to install Switchyard Tools with a new Eclipse but I’m having some problems (version compatibility I think).

Tried the following from the installation guide from the link https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/SWITCHYARD/Installation+Guide

• installed Eclipse Kepler 4.3 on my Mac OSX client
• in Available Software Sites, I added the link http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/kepler/integration-stack/aggregate/4.1.4.Final/
• downloaded the file switchyard-tools-2.0.0.CR1.zip
• in Help-->Install New Software... -> Add.. -> Archive.. i choose the file switchyard-tools-2.0.0.CR1.zip and confirmed

Now.. An error appears

NO SOFTWARE SITE FOUND AT jar:file:/<path>/switchyard-tools-2.0.0.CR1.zip!/

This "jar:file:" suffix appeared also if I select a zip file. I also tried renaming the zip in .jar. Nothing changed of course

I also did a lot of tries with other Alpha/Beta versions files but without success..

I’d have a couple of questions:

1. do you see any version incompatibility? Any help/doc link with the preferred tool version to use with SwitchYard 2.0.0.CR1?
2. for SY 2.0.0.CR1 is Eclipse Kepler 4.3 the suggested release or can I use a more recent one?
3. is it possible to install switchyard-tools-2.0.0.CR1.zip via URL (which one?) instead of uploading the ZIP?

Hi Manuel!

Sorry for the confusion. I will work on updating the installation page this week.

The latest SwitchYard tooling build for 2.0.0.CR1 is Eclipse Luna based and available here: http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/integration-stack/switchyard/2.0.0.CR1/

You can grab the latest Eclipse Luna build (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/luna/R), add the JBTIS integration stack update site (http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/luna/integration-stack/aggregate/4.2.1.Final/) and then use the SwitchYard Tools CR1 update site to install the CR1 build.

Thanks for your patience. Starting with 2.0.0.CR1, the tooling builds will run on Luna and up and we're no longer supporting Kepler.

Hi Manuel,

Only to note, SY 2 needs Wildfly 8.0, and it is not certified to work on 8.1 or 8.2. With WF 8.1 SY will start but you will get runtime errors depending on the usage. In WF 8.2 will not even boot.

Just take this into account.

now something is moving in Eclipse... but...

• I installed Luna 4.4 (EE version)
• put the link http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/luna/integration-stack/aggregate/4.2.1.Final/ in the "Available Software Site" list
• used the link http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/integration-stack/switchyard/2.0.0.CR1/ in the "Install new software"
• "Contact all update sites during install to find required software" = TRUE

When I click Next, the process takes forever, and finally ends with the error below.

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.

  Software being installed: SwitchYard BPEL Support 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1 (org.switchyard.tools.bpel.feature.feature.group 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1)

  Missing requirement: SwitchYard 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1 (org.switchyard.tools.feature.feature.group 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1) requires 'org.eclipse.emf.compare.feature.group 2.1.0' but it could not be found

  Cannot satisfy dependency:

    From: SwitchYard BPEL Support 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1 (org.switchyard.tools.bpel.feature.feature.group 2.0.0.v20150331-1752-H551-CR1)

What can it be? I think I followed all the steps required..

BTW: If I look inside the link http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/integration-stack/switchyard/2.0.0.CR1/

It tells to use http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/integration-stack/

and not the one you mentioned. Can this be the cause of the problem ?

My apologies - try installing the latest SwitchYard 2.0 CR1 build from here - https://devstudio.redhat.com/updates/8.0/integration-stack/earlyaccess/

That manages to find all the appropriate dependencies for BPMN2 and BPEL.

So, resuming, now I have:

in "Available Software Site" list

http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/luna/integration-stack/aggregate/4.2.1.Final/

https://devstudio.redhat.com/updates/8.0/integration-stack/earlyaccess/

then i add in Install new software the link

http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/integration-stack/switchyard/2.0.0.CR1/

and select all objects that appear

Hi Manuel,

With the Luna JEE SR2 build installed from here: Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers | Packages

I have the following update sites configured:

*  https://devstudio.redhat.com/updates/8.0/integration-stack/

*  https://devstudio.redhat.com/updates/8.0/integration-stack/earlyaccess/

The SwitchYard 2.0.0.CR1 build is included in the above early access update site.

Note that from the Early Access site I am only selecting JBoss Integration and SOA Development-> SwitchYard, SwitchYard BPEL Support, and SwitchYard BPM Support, though everything in the early access site seems to find all required dependencies.
