Number of live Timer threads keep increasing after a while

Currently working on porting our rule engine application that process millions of data per hour to WildFly from JBoss 4.2.3. It uses ExecutorService for concurrent processing and doesn't create thread.

The application runs without an issue for 40-50 mins and then live timer threads keeping increasing. The JVM memory keeps increasing and then after some time OOM exception.

Configuration from standalone.xml

                <managed-executor-services>

                    <managed-executor-service name="default" jndi-name="java:jboss/ee/concurrency/executor/default" context-service="default" hung-task-threshold="60000" core-threads="5" max-threads="25" keepalive-time="5000"/>

                </managed-executor-services>

Is there any other configuration i can use to keep the live threads to minimum?

Which exact version of WildFly is this?

Both in 8.1 and 8.2.

Any chance you can try this against the latest released WildFly 9.0.0.Final https://developer.jboss.org/thread/260342? Please also get a thread dump (for example using jstack) of these threads when you see this issue.

In Wild Fly 9 RC2 I didnt have any issue.

I will attach thread dump tomorrow.

I haven't yet looked at the thread dumps, but if it works in the latest release of WildFly then even if this turns out to be bug in WildFly (which I suspect might be the case), there's hardly anything we can do, except maybe point you to the patch or the JIRA. Any reason why you wouldn't want to upgrade to 9.0.0.Final?

You can attach files inline within this very discussion thread/post. In the message editor window there's a "Use advanced editor" link at top right corner. Clicking on it opens an "advanced" editor which has a button (lower right corner of the editor window) to upload attachments.
