    Long term support of capacityFactor

    slardet

      Hi,

we are using capacityFactor in some critical features in our application. We found out recently that CF is not supported by Red Hat in JBDG, and a future support seems unlikely.

I am then wondering what level of support we can expect for it in the future as it looks fairly isolated.

More precisely, is there already any plan to remove it in ISPN 8.0 or a further?

      Any hints would help, thanks.

      Stéphane

What is the reason for using CP?

We use ISPN in embedded mode, and we need to have some integration layer with external modules.

We use capacityFactor=0 for that: The external module joins the cluster as a data-less node, but can do interesting stuff like GET/PUT and distribute tasks. We currently can't go to server mode because of the way we handle query and indexing, so moving away from capacityFactor=0 would mean to go to a classic SOA, which is less appealing (still, that's our plan B).

Not sure whats next, current the CP is still available within the project. So I suppose 8.0 will still have it.

But if you consider to migrate to the supported JDG product this is not supported. Here you need to use C/S mode.

Ok, thanks. In fact, I think the only possible answers right now would be "unknown", or "discontinued", but there can't be any guarantee that it will be supported in further versions.

So I take "unknown" as an answer to my question, and the fact that 8.0 is in beta gives good chance that it is supported in this version (I think that it's too late to remove such a feature now).

Let's make things clear: CAPACITY FACTOR IS HERE TO STAY. Its status is NOT unknown and NOT discontinued.

                    Ok that's clearer this way.

So, do you know why it is not supported in JBDG and whether it will be in the future? (I got in touch with a Red Hat consultant who did not give me good hope on that)
