start process of WildFly-8.2.0-Final never finish (Starting, Synchronized)

Hi,

I am using WildFly-8.2.0-Final in Eclipse Luna (Java 1.8.40). When I start the WildFly server in Start or Debug mode in Eclipse, it goes to "Starting, Synchronized" and never finished. But it can run. About 20 minute, the server stop.

It worked fine before. Don't know how and why it becomes this status now. I re-install completely new Eclipse Luna and new WildFly-8.2.0-Final. It still goes to the same status.

Anyone ever come into this situation? How to solve it?

The message in Console tab looks normal. The last 3 lines are:

Does this happen even when you un-deploy the "e-services.war" from your wildfly and then try starting it back ?

How un-deploy? I un-amount all project(s) from server, then start the server. It goes to the same status: Starting.

In the same Eclipse IDE, I start the remote WildFly (8.2.1-Final) on Linux. The server can become 'Started' status. But the remote server's 'Run As Debug' menu is grey.

I re-install WildFly(8.2.0-Final), Eclipse(Luna), which can be started in to "Started" status on other machine, when I copied them to my machine, it goes to the 'Starting' status.

Is there any other temp file which keeps the wrong status? I removed [my user id]/.eclipse file. No help

My co-workers and I see this from time to time. Double-click on the server in the Servers tab and look at how the Server State Detectors are set. Your pollers should be set to Web Port or Management Service. Then check the Server Ports and make sure the ports are being detected correctly. Change them if not.

I checked. It seems everything is correct. The attached is the screen shoot of the port settings of the server. I check the configuration file standalone.xml, the settings are

   jboss.management.http.port:9990

   jboss.socket.binding.port-offset:0

   jboss.http.port:8080

Is there a "$" sign in your "Current Value" entry and where does this come from?

Could you check if this is also in your standalone.xml?

I'd suggest that you then delete the server in Eclipse and then create a new entry.

Yes. It is '$'. In 'Server Ports' section of Server tab, click on 'Configure...' at right end of each item. It shows.

The values are automatically from standalone.xml. I checked

I did delete server, delete and re-install the whole WildFly-8.2.0-Final directory. re-install new Eclipse, re-start up machine. Got the same result.

I guess somewhere else (not in WildFly-8.2.0-Final and Elcipse, such as temp file, System Registry) keep some values which affect on the server Status

I understand there should not be such a '$' sign in the standalone.xml. Could you try to remove this and then re create your server entry in Eclipse.

The value cannot be updated. The section in standalone.xml is:

After delete the server(), re-new a new server with proper parameters. start the server, then double click on the server name. the '$' is in it.

I configured 2 WildFly servers, refer to the first picture in above question.

     WildFly 8.x is configured for localhost;

     WildFly 8.x(1) is configured for remote server (on Linux) (It has same '$' sign in the same places)

When I start WildFly 8.x(1), its status will be "Started, Synchronized". Then can work

I am not quite sure to understand what you are saying. Your standalone.xml looks correct. But in your screen output above the '$' sign appears after the braces.

There is no '$' for the port number.

Which versions Eclipse and WildFly are you using? Mine are Eclipse Luna, and WildFly-8.2.0-Final. I also tried Eclipse Mars and WildFly-9.0.1-Final. The same status: "Starting, Synchronized"

Both (WildFly 8.2.0, 9.0.1) ever worked fine. --> "Started, Synchronized". Don't know from when, it became this status.

No, I am not from the JBoss developer team. But I think this is neither a problem with WildFly nor with Eclipse (I use Luna as well).

As mentioned by Rich above Eclipse is checking the 'Server State Detectors'. Per default it is checking the Web Port. So you should find something like "Undertow HTTP listener default listening on localhost/127.0.0.1:8080" in the Console output.

If you click the 'Preview' button you should see your current configuration setting. In your case the location should show standalone.xml and the value should be "${jboss.http.port:8080}".

The current value with the trailing $-sign above looks weird indeed. My experience is that Eclipse does not refresh this value when the WildFly configuration had been changed. But re creating the server (in Eclipse) usually should help.

Reasonable. That's what I have been doubting.

But I list all 127.0.0.1 PIDs. No one can be deleted. And 8081, 8082 ports, cannot deleted, either.
