          Hi,

Teiid Designer 9.0.3 is compatible with JBoss DV 6.2

Typically you'd use the DV version of Teiid Designer with DV.

Teiid Designer will be compatible with DV largely based upon the corresponding Teiid version (DV 6.1 contains Teiid 8.4.x, 6.2 contains Teiid 8.7.x).  Matus is recommending 9.0.3 since that is the latest release on the 9.0 release, which was targeted at Teiid 8.8.  Generally you should be able to use later versions of Designer as they should be backwards compatible as well.

I come back on this topic.

              • Teiid Designer 9.0.x
                • Is compatible with DV 6.2 (see above)
                • Is it officially supported by RedHat when used with DV 6.2 ?
              • Teiid Designer 9.1.x
                • Is it compatible with DV 6.2 ?
                • Is it officially supported by RedHat when used with DV 6.2 ?
              • Teiid Designer 9.2.x
                • Is it compatible with DV 6.2 ?
                • Is it officially supported by RedHat when used with DV 6.2 ?

              Thanks in advance for clarification

No, none of the community releases are officially supported.

Yes, all 9.0 and later should be compatible with DV 6.2 - based upon base support for Teiid 8.7 and later.

I'm not sure to understand. Where are the officially supported versions ? Is it from JBoss Central only (see below) ?

The JBoss article 1351903 references "Teiid Designer 9.0.4.Final". Version 9.0.4 is not community release ?

Just to make sure we're using the same terminology when you say Teiid Designer 9.0.x, I'm interpreting that as the community project.  Otherwise you would referencing the DV 6.x Designer, correct?

In general there is no guarantee that the product supported version will correspond to a properly released community  version.  Also once a product branch is released it will be maintained independently of the project.

So in most situations you'll want to use the DV Designer release rather than community.  The community version can be for testing new functionality/fixes, but otherwise any issues you find will need to raised with support against the product supported version.  You can of course choose to work directly with the community project as well.

                      Jean-Pierre,

If you have downloaded the software from Teiid Homepage · Teiid or  Teiid Tooling - JBoss Community  these are community versions. That means we as community develop these projects independent of Red Hat support, the only support you get is the community support as in this forums, email etc. That is voluntary support by us, because we very much care about our community of users and their use cases etc and highly depends on community members's time. There are NO SLA you can expect from this support.

If you downloaded the JBoss DV product  and its supporting tools and have support agreement with Red Hat, then you can talk with Red Hat support personnel (this is not Red Hat support) through their defined procedures and get a timely support with negotiated SLAs. So, these both are entirely different mechanisms. DV product support also comes with guarantees as how long a particular version is supported, there are no such support with community versions. If you are a customer, I suggest you need to talk to your account representative to learn full spectrum of benefits of Red Hat support provides.

                      Hope this helps.

                      Ramesh..

I've used the wording of JBoss article...

Anyway thanks both. But in my context, use of community supported version is not an option.
