Jbpm 6.1.0.Final Serialization issue while using Collection type output variable in Human Task.

I am using java.util.List / java.util.Map in Human task's output variable. While completing the task Its giving me Serialization exception. I have uploaded my bpmn file in jbpm-console's project and accessing through remote rest api through my test case. I am getting following exception stack trace -

Please suggest how to use any Collection type variable in Human Task's output variable ? Shall I need to put any additional jar file within 'jbpm-console/WEB-INF/lib' to get rid of this serialization exception ? Any help will be really appreciated.

this is a know issue and you can workaround it by putting this class org.drools.core.xml.jaxb.util.JaxbListWrapper in your project (kjar) and deploy it once again. That should allow you to make use of List as process variables. Just copy source of that class put it in your project src/main/java and should be good to go.

Thanks Maciej for your great effort every time. Wanted to update further, If I add 'JaxbListWrapper' class as an extra jaxb class in 'RemoteRestRuntimeEngineFactory' the exception is not coming now. I did the following -

But now once after completing the Human Task if I print the process variable 'list' it is giving following exception -

Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.xerces.dom.ElementNSImpl cannot be cast to java.util.List

My process variable 'list' is of java.util.List type and the task output variable which is associated with the process variable 'list' is of 'java.util.List' type. Hence it seems like at the point of completing the task, where the op variable gets assigned to the process variable, the type of process variable is internally getting changed by bpm as 'ElementNSImpl'.

What to do next to get a workaround ?

this error means that it still is not able to transform incoming xml into an actual object. That's why I suggested to include the class itself in the project as workaround as I believe that worked when I tried last time.

Thanks again Maciej. List type of output variable is now working for me if I do two things -

1. add 'JaxbListWrapper' class as an extra jaxb class in 'RemoteRestRuntimeEngineFactory'

2. Add the class 'JaxbListWrapper' within kie project's src/main/java.

However Map is not working. It is giving the following exception -

how to add collection of dataType be it primitive as process variables.  When i add it, it's removing it in business_central?  Also, what else i need to do to accept Map or List in KIE project?

How exactly does one add a file to the project's src/main/java.  I do not see any method for adding a file here.
