http connector vs netty connector

Hi all !

I'm going to upgrade some applications from AS 7 to WildFly 8 and I've just gone through the messaging subystem. I can see that the netty connectors have been replaced by the http-connector. Is it still possible (advisable too?) to use netty as connector for remote clients or it has been deprecated ? from the WildFly documentation it's still mentioned as an option.....

We have replaced the netty connector by the http connectors in the default messaging subsystem configuration files but they have not been deprecated.

Using HTTP connectors is preferred since it simplify the administration tasks (no need to open an additional port for messaging) though.

However you can still use netty connectors as you were in AS7 without any modifications.

jmesnil does this still hold true for WF9? We are migration application from AS7 to WF9 and was wondering if netty connectors are still supported in WF9?

The netty-connector semantics should still be supported, but I believe the configuration element was renamed to "remote-connector" and "remote-acceptor."
